Can you feel it? It seems like yesterday we were looking at a new year, and now we’re almost halfway through it. Crazy, huh?

In this issue, we’re celebrating our annual Readers Choice Awards, during which you get to tell us what and who you think is best about Statesboro and Bulloch County. We get so jacked up each year in anticipation as we watch this contest unfold, and see who and what you choose. And we congratulate all of the winners!

We are featuring Dr. Debbie Edwards, Best Vet, and Capt. Kaleb Moore, voted Best Local Hero, to go along with our RCA section in this issue. We know you’re going to enjoy reading about them. Be sure to check out the full list of winners inside.

We also have a feature on this issue’s Everyday Hero, John Long, who runs Christian Social Ministries. He’s an incredible leader and you don’t want to miss reading all about his journey. Don’t miss the article inside on Robert Lucas, local owner of Sweet Impact Desserts. This young man is incredibly talented — if you don’t believe us, just ask any of his more than 1 million followers on TikTok.

Last but not least, we have a feature on Jack’s Journeys, the story of one local family who is creating a legacy in the face of unimaginable loss.

So enjoy this issue. We highly recommend reading it on a front porch, while swinging with a glass of sweet tea. Happy summer!
