As spring settles in and the days grow longer, our calendars begin to fill — with community events, family gatherings and the simple, day-to-day activities that bring people together. It’s a season that reminds us how much of life happens in the moments we share, often without realizing at the time how meaningful they’ll become.
This issue of Discovering Bulloch is centered around those moments — and the milestones that mark them.
Across our community, we’re surrounded by milestones worth recognizing. This year, two longtime local favorites are celebrating 20 years. Gnat’s Landing and Galactic Comics & Games have each spent decades creating spaces where people gather, connect and create memories.
At the same time, Bulloch County is approaching 230 years of history, built upon generations of families, businesses and traditions that have shaped the place we call home.
On a much larger scale, the United States is preparing to celebrate its 250th anniversary this July. The story of America, much like the story of any community, has never been simple — but it has always been shaped by the people who show up, put in the work and invest in something bigger than themselves.
That same idea holds true here in Bulloch County. The businesses featured in this issue didn’t last 20 years by accident. They’ve grown over time, supported by the people who have continued to show up — owners who stayed committed, employees who clocked in day after day, and customers who kept coming back.
As you flip through this issue, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate the places, people and traditions that have stood the test of time, both across the country and right here at home.
While milestones give us a reason to look back, they also remind us to keep moving forward — because there is still so much ahead.
