Finally fall, y'all
Always Write
fall leaf

It’s finally fall, y’all! It’s my favorite time of year. I detest pumpkin spice anything, but I absolutely love college football, the leaves as they change colors, boots, scarves, sweaters, and cool, clear mornings.

There’s a lot going on in the Boro this fall. Check out our calendar to get all the details. You’ll also want to be sure to read Exploring the City That Soars, as Becky Sanders talks about all the fall goodness that we’ve got going on.

Our cover feature this issue is Bennie Herring, a walking historian on all things Statesboro. She’s lived here since 1954, and at 92 years young, is a spitfire and an inspiration. Be sure to check out her story.

We’ve also featured Darrel and Betty Young, a couple married for 32 years. They share their marital ups and downs and the secret to their bliss. And read all about Philip Campbell, who teaches at STEAM, and inspires young people every day.

Last but not least, read about the Georgia Southern University Senior Companion Program, which provides a vital service for local senior adults while giving residents the opportunity to make a difference.

So get yourself a cup of something that screams fall for you (I’ll pass on the pumpkin spice stuff), and settle in to watch your favorite college team kick off. Right after you’ve finished reading this issue!

Happy fall!
